WHAT COULD YOU DO WITHOUT

Last weekend at our Back-To School Retreat we had an average of 53 people. We spent time together studying God's Word, playing, canoeing, eating, a little sleeping, bug-a-booing and working a jigsaw puzzle. I made the comment that we had done all these things without the aid of a TV or a computer. Afterwards, one of the kids came up to me and said, "I've been so busy I forgot all about them things."

I wonder how many "things" we have crammed into our life that we could really do without. How many things have you saved in your basement, attic, outbuilding, storage building, under the bed, etc. that you haven't used or looked at since you put them there? We are a people who have more things that we have time to use them, which means something has got to go. What gets cut in your life? Could it be:

    * Personal Bible Study
    * Fellowship activities
    * Family time together
    * Bible class
    * Worship servi ces
    * Service Projects
    * Talking with neighbor s

    * Visiting old friends
    * Sitting on the porch
    * Going for a drive
    * Visiting the sick
    * Reading
    * Going on a walk
    * Enjoying nature

There are many, many things that we sometimes reminisce we had time to do that would bring joy to our lives. However, we usually make the statement that we don't have time to do them. Why not make the time. Turn off the TV, get up from the computer, put down the Pod, stick the cell phone in a drawer and do something without the "necessities".

"Be still, and know that I am God... " Psalm 46:10a.
