THE POWER IS THERE
Herbert Jackson tells how thrilled he was to receive a car shortly after he began his missionary work overseas. However, his enthusiasm dimmed somewhat when he was told that the car would not start without a push.
After pondering his problem, he devised a plan, which he thought was great. He went to a school near his home, got permission to take some children out of class, and had them push his car each morning to get it started. As he made his rounds, he would either park on a hill or leave the engine running. He used this ingenious plan for two whole years without a hitch. But ill health forced the Jackson family to return to the States, and a new missionary came to that location. Before leaving, Jackson began to proudly explain his arrangement for getting the car started and keeping it going. Before the explanation was completed, the new missionary raised the hood of the car and said, "Why, Dr. Jackson, I believe the only trouble is this loose cable." He then gave it a twist, stepped into the car, turned the ignition, and to Jackson's astonishment, the engine roared to life!
For two years trouble had become routine. The power had always been there. Only a loose connection kept Jackson from putting that power to work.
How many of you are in that same situation, spiritually? You keep pushing the same old burdens and problems around day after day. And all the while the power is right there, but you're not connected to that power. Why not turn your life and your problems over the God, the greatest power there is?
