ONLINE CHURCH BULLETIN
As I write this article on Friday it has been an emotional week for me personally. Romans 12:15 says to "rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep." On Monday afternoon I had the privilege to rejoice with Dustin Jennings as he was baptized into Christ. Then on Wednesday evening we rejoiced to witness the baptisms of Tyler Robinson and Katie Herman. All three of these are 18 years old and seniors at DeKalb County High School. As they prepare to graduate and head off to college they made a statement that they want to belong to Christ and to make the statement that everyone knows it! We wish only the best for these young people in the years to come as they influence others to follow their steps.
On Thursday morning, Bobby Lee and I headed to the tornado stricken area of Lafayette, TN. My family and I lived there for five years as we worked with the church there. It was sad to see all the destruction and to weep with those who weep as they lost everything physical and some lost family members. We loaded up my truck with tarps, blankets, cleaning supplies, tools, food boxes and water supplied by the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief. We headed to some of the worst destruction but were turned away. We then went to Central Command and there met up with Trooper Tudors from Chattanooga. When he saw our Disaster Relief shirts and hats he got permission to personally escort us into the areas that needed assistance. We gave out food and water and helped people get belongings loaded onto trucks and trailers, put tarps on roofs and passed out supplies to workers and survivors. Near the end of the day we were on the northern edge of Macon County giving away tarps when we came up Randy Carver on Akersville Road. We asked if they needed any tarps and his wife said she was on the phone trying to locate some at that very moment. It's amazing what God can do through you if you will let Him. Please keep these families in your prayers. If you want to make a donation to help the victims please give it to myself, Dan, Donna or one of the elders.
For His Cause.
