Need Some Excitement!?

Is your life dull? Want to spice it up? Have an adventure? Break out of the routine? Well, it will cost you $107 and you'll have to drive to Amboy, Washington. There you can take a thrilling bungee jump.

You will walk out on a bridge, which happens to be the highest legal bungee bridge in the United States, and look down to a majestic sparkling river 200 feet below. You attach yourself to an elastic cord (a big rubber band) and simply fall off the bridge. The cords are designed to; theoretically, stop you before you hit the "majestic sparkling river".

Get this quote: "Leaping off the bridge, jumpers hurtle to within inches of the water at speeds in excess of 70 mph, then are snapped back toward the bridge within seconds. They continue to flail through the air for three to five minutes. When ready, the jumper grabs a rope to be pulled back up to the bridge."Bungee jumpers trace this sport to a custom practiced by South Pacific islanders (obviously with gross genetic brain defects) who would tie vines to their ankles and leap from heights as a ritual to prove their manhood. Personally, I'd rather stick a fork in my eye.

What some people want go through for excitement when, actually, for sheer adventure, living as a Christian can't be beat.

Have you ever done your best to live the beatitudes? To be meek, merciful and a peacemaker? Have you ever "emptied" yourself and became the servant of others (Phil. 2)? Have you ever spent time with people who were sick, grieved, in trouble or simply needed someone to talk to? Have you ever become involved in the life of someone who needs you and the word of God?

If you have then you know that you'll never need to bungee jump for excitement and adventure. There's never a dull moment when you love and reach out to people all around you.

Look at Christ's life and His dealings with people — imitate that. And you'll fmd living life as a Christian is not only satisfying and the right thing to do — it's exciting, too!

For His Cause,
Tim Woodward
