"Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so." This glorious thought is the very essence of the power of the good news of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. This eternal truth is the power of conversion, salvation, forgiveness, strength, holiness, hope, love, evangelism, and zeal! Anna Barrett Warner (1820-1915) "wrote this simple hymn in 1860 to be included in one of her sister Susan's novels. In the story, it was a poem of comfort spoken to a dying child" (From: The ONE YEAR Book of Hymns, TYNDALE). Even today millions still sing these words of faith and affirmation. I do not remember the first time I sang these words, but since those very early childhood years they have been playing heaven's melody in my heart of hearts: "Yes, Jesus loves Rodger!" Oh, how I have needed and how I still need this greatest of all truths! These words are personal, powerful, and perpetual.

There is nothing like being loved. God is love. Love comes from His very nature. Our Heavenly Father doesn't just possess a quantity of love; He is the very source of all love. God loves you, not just everyone else! It is not whether we are lost or saved that creates God's love toward us, it is His nature. In fact, the Holy Spirit reveals in Romans 5:8 that "God continues to demonstrate His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Now, what do you think you are worth? Jesus' love for you is personal!

Love is powerful! It can conquer anyone and any situation if allowed a foothold. It was God's love that produced the eternal plan of salvation in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 3: 10). "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). Sin left alone flourishes. Even so, Satan and all his hoard of hellians cannot stand where God's love is applied.... "But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more ... so grace might abound through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 5:20-21). Jesus' love for us is more powerful than our sin!

God's love for, us will never end, because He will never end! He is eternal, therefore, so is His love. The old song uses the word "loves," and correctly so. The good news of Jesus' love is still being offered today. Jesus is the  Father's son, so His nature is love as well. Jesus didn't just talk love; He did it! He shed His "precious blood" for all (1 Peter 1:18-20). "Jesus loves me! He who died Heaven's gate to open wide; He will wash away my sin, let His little child come in. Jesus loves me! He will stay close beside me all the way; Thou hast bled and died for me, I will henceforth live for Thee." Jesus' love is perpetual; it will never end!

Jesus' love is personal, powerful, and perpetual. He said, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16). He shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins and revealed how we apply His sacrifice through faith to our fives. "Yes, Jesus loves me!"
