Inspired to Transform

On Friday, June 3rd, twenty-five of us from the Smithville congregation traveled to Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL. We were there to join a couple of hundred others for the Inspire Summer Youth Conference. This would be the fourth year of its existence and it has grown a little each year. The theme for this year's Inspire was "Transformed: The Life of Paul" based on Romans 12:1-2 which reads, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

There were several classes for them to attend as well as two assemblies each day. Each night we divided into our own youth groups for a time of devotion. The week was a HUGE success as many learned how to transform their lives into something powerful for Jesus. There were many public responses as well as several baptisms. From our congregation we had several requests prayers on their behalf for various reasons. Among those were: Ethan Shaw, Olivia Norton, Kelsey Hedge, Makalee Ruch, Loren Cripps, Ashley Barnes and Caitlin Jacobs. Please remember these young people in your prayers as they strive to be the best Christian examples to you and others that they can be.

Next year's dates and theme have already been set. It will be on June 2-7, 2012. The theme will be: "Reconstruction: Nehemiah — Rebuilding the Walls of your Life." If you have never been to Inspire and want to know more about it, ask one of our young people. If you are a 6th -12th grader (next year) and have never been, I encourage you to make plans for next year!
